To use the Whetstone, simply follow these steps: 1) Soak the knife sharpener stone in water for 10-15 minutes, then place it in the bamboo base with the rubber holder on a flat surface. 2) Clip the guide on the knife. Use the 400 grit side for rough grinding in a 10~30 degree angle, then use the 1000 grit side for fine grinding. 3) Use the 3000 grit side for fine grinding in a 10~30 degree angle, then use the 8000 grit side for fine polishing the blade. 4) Place the blade on the leather strop, and with light pressure, push the blade up towards the top to remove any lingering metal burrs. Wash, dry, and your newly-sharpened blade is ready to use.
