The Story Of Ink Plums: Brand And Inspiration
Inspired by the renowned Yuan dynasty painter Wang Mian's "Mo Mei" painting, our "Ink Plum" brand is imbued with a profound philosophy. "Ink" represents the artistry of Chinese ink painting, while "Plums" signifies the plum blossom - a symbol of resilience and elegance.
Just as the plum blossom proudly blooms amidst snow and ice, our brand aspires to embody the same unwavering spirit. The harsher the conditions, the more the plum blossom flourishes, exuding a captivating fragrance. This resilience and tenacity is the ethos we strive to uphold.
Our Chinese logo "Mei" is also inspired by the great calligrapher Zhao Meng Fu, further reinforcing our brand's deep-rooted cultural connections. Moreover, we have added a seal in the top left corner, symbolizing our vision of the brand being passed down through generations due to the exceptional quality of our knives.
Why Choose Ink Plums: Superior Craftsmanship & Materials
At the core of our 9-inch Kiritsuke knife lies a professional 90CR13 super steel, meticulously heat-treated to achieve a Rockwell hardness of up to 60 HRC. This ensures remarkable resistance to friction and prolonged sharpness.
The entire blade is forged using a three-layer clad steel construction, with the middle core made of 90CR13 steel, enveloped by two layers of corrosion-resistant steel. This "sandwich" design highlights the superior performance of the central core while protecting it for long-lasting use.
For the handle, we have exclusively selected natural olive wood - a premium material rarely used in knives due to its scarcity and cost. Devoid of paint or odor, the olive wood handle is not only durable and resistant to corrosion but also boasts a stunning natural grain, akin to high-end furniture.
To achieve the desired high hardness, toughness, and wear resistance, each of our knives undergoes a meticulous hand-forging process that can take up to 4 weeks. The master craftsmen heat the steel to a softened state and then repeatedly apply external force, refining the carbide structure for exceptional mechanical properties.
